SIni Simonen
Sini Simonen (b. 1986) began to play the violin at the age of 4 and studied in Sibelius Academy and in Musikhochschule Hannover with among others Lara Lev.
She won the 1st prize at the International Violin Solo competition in Cremona, the 2nd prize at the International Carl Flesch Competition in Hungary and the 2nd prize at the International Rodolfo Lipizer Competition. She was also a finalist in the International Sibelius Competition and has won numerous prizes in national competitions in Finland. She is a member of one of Denmark’s most renowned chamber music ensembles, the Esbjerg Ensemble since 2013 and was a member of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra 2011-2012. She also devotes time to her love of chamber music as a member of the Yoon piano trio. The trio won the first prize in the International Brahms Chamber Music competition in 2012. Sini has played as a soloist with, among others, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, the Gyor Philharmonic Orchestra and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. She has given acclaimed recitals in many European countries as well as USA, and has toured in Japan and Mongolia in a string quartet with violinist Midori. She plays a Giovanni Battista Guadagnini violin from 1760 on loan from the Finnish Cultural Foundation. |
